» Quilt Vine

I did finish the top of my 2023 Temperature Quilt. I decided not to share it until I have it quilted.

Now, on to my 2024 Temperature Quilt. I have decided on fabric and design. Once again, I will be using Art Gallery Solids for the temperature highs and lows. Lately my fabric choices are becoming increasingly mellow. Not that many years ago my fabric choices could not have been brighter and now I can’t seem to get soft enough.

I started by digging into my box of fabric swatches from Woven and Woolly. Once I finally had what ...

Working On My 2023 Temperature Quilt from Quilt Vine

This past week I have been diligently working on my 2023 Temperature Quilt. I absolutely love the way it is coming together. I love the fabric and I love the triangle. This is my favorite Temperature Quilt I have done so far.

It all began with the design. Of course, each year I look at a ton of Temperature Quilts online. Then the tuff decision of what to do with mine. I loved the circle and did that two years in a row.

I have a triangle quilt that I absolutely love and thought maybe my Temperature Quilt should be ...

New Pattern - Strike A Chord Quilt from Baby Boomer Quilting Bee

Introducing - Strike A Chord, published by Black Cat Creations.

For this design, it started with a bundle of Tim Holtz Fabric, Abandoned 2 by Free Spirit.  All my favorite elements had to be included .... something geometric, stars and plus blocks.  The background is a Moda Grunge.

I made several test blocks and played with settings; both on point and horizontal, each using just 12 blocks.  I just couldn't decide on the setting, so I wrote the pattern for both.

The horizontal version uses a line from Art Gallery Fabrics, "Kismet" by Sharon Holland.

Whether you are finished, or still working on it, know that Mercyful Quilts is so grateful to you for your time, creativity and generosity. For us to be able to provide some support to these people is a gift.

Camden Road QAL – New Kits! from Needle and Foot

Being the start of the new year, there are all sorts of fun quilting challenges, projects and quilt alongs to take part in. Today is the kick off of a fun quilt along, the Camden Road QAL. Hosted by Cheryl of Meadow Mist Designs and Cindy of Hyacinth Designs, this might be just the project to start your new year right. The pace is a bit quicker than Cheryl’s Mosaic Mystery QAL which I have been sewing along with since late summer. As you can see in the picture above, the Camden Road pattern is gorgeous!

Prints from this ...

Teal Mini Swap from Baby Boomer Quilting Bee

The annual Teal Mini Swap, hosted by EvaPaige Quilt Designs, is their way to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer during the months of July through September.  There is a limit of 500 participants over the United States and Canada, who make and swap either a mug rug or miniature quilt.  From the $15 registration fee, $10 is directly donated to OCRFA, Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance.

For 2019, Art Gallery Fabrics (AGF) donated the beautiful fabric.  The swappers were required to use this print somewhere in their project (see above).  Lucky for me, I have a HUGE collection ...
